Company News:
Johnson
Landscapes began its 19th year in business, in May of this year. We have been
grateful to all the individuals and companies that have placed their trust in
our ability. We could not have made it this far without valuable employees
like Gilberto Barron, who recently celebrated his 15th year of service with
Johnson Landscapes. Gilberto Barron joined Johnson Landscapes in July 1990.
Eric originally promised Gilberto 3 days of work. Congratulations to
Gilberto!
Today's Tip:
Don't
Let them grow!! Remove weeds when young. Be sure to remove the entire weed
plant, root and all. Avoid "pulling" weeds, instead dig them out.
Weeds when pulled often break at the soil level, leaving a root system intact
that quickly grows again. Letting the weed grow to maturity and produce seed
will increase your workload!
Landscape Lingo:
Annual
- (1) a plant that lives only one year or season (2) referring to the use of
flowers (impatience, pansies, etc.) in the landscape to highlight areas.
Deciduous - refers to a plant or tree that lose their leaves during its
dormancy period, typically in the winter months. Example: liquid amber.
Evergreen -
refers to a plant or tree that will not lose all of its leaves during
dormancy. Example: Pine.
Mulch: any
material placed on the soil surface and designed to conserve moisture and aid
in prevention of weeds. Wood bard and rock are common materials used for
mulch.
